Sofía Vergara still hasn’t won an Emmy.

On Sunday, she was nominated for outstanding lead actress in a limited or anthology series or movie for Griselda at the 2024 Emmy Awards. She ultimately lost to Jodie Foster for True Detective: Night Country, but instead of lamenting the loss, Vergara joked about it.

In an Instagram video, she said in Spanish, "They robbed me of the Emmy for the fifth time," per People. In the past, the 52-year-old has been nominated at the awards show four times for her role in Modern Family.

Vergara played the lead character in Griselda, for which she also served as producer. She issued a statement following her recent Emmy nomination, in which she called it an “incredible honor” to be recognized. She also shared that it took her “15 years to bring [Griselda] to life.”

She added, "I never dreamed that after Modern Family I would be able to work on something as special as Griselda."

Indeed, Sofía and Griselda have many things in common, including that they’re both Colombian, immigrants, mothers, and women. Unfortunately, the violence of the drug trade is also something Vergara is familiar with; in the 90s, her brother was kidnapped and murdered by the Colombian Cartel.

"It destroyed my family," she told the Variety in August. "It destroyed my mom. It changed our lives completely. We didn’t know what was happening, why he had been killed."
