While many know Macaulay Culkin from his role in the Home Alone films, his kids don’t realize their dad is Kevin McCallister.

Culkin, 45, sat down with the On Film…With Kevin McCarthy podcast and shared that his and fiancée Brenda Song's sons, 4-year-old Dakota and 3-year-old Carson, aren’t old enough to put the pieces together just yet.

“Now that I got kids, they're watching my work. That means something else,” Culkin said at around the 24-minute, 20-second mark of the video below. “Especially through your kids, you have a legacy beyond yourself.”

When McCarthy pointed out that Culkin’s children are seeing him act at a young age, Culkin said, “They have no idea it's me. They watch Home Alone, and they go, ‘That's Kevin.’”

“Two days ago, my oldest wanted to see pictures of me and my siblings. And I pulled out an old family photo, and he looks directly at me. And he goes, ‘That kid looks like Kevin. Who's that?’” Culkin said. “And I said, ‘That's me.’ And kind of just waiting for the other shoe to drop. He's like, ‘Oh, anyway.’ And I was like, ‘OK, cool.’ Got to keep up the illusion for as long as possible.”

Culkin plays 10-year-old Kevin in 1990’s Home Alone and the sequel, 1992’s Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. This year marks the 35th anniversary of the cult classic.

Last December, the the actor told E! News that his son Dakota somehow thinks he was in Home Alone.

"He thinks he's Kevin," Culkin said. "I'm like, ‘Do you remember going down that down the stairs on the sled?' He's like, ‘Mhm, yep. Sure do.' I'm like, ‘Do you remember when he had yellow hair?' And he's like, ‘Uh-huh, yep.'"
