Kevin Hart will neither confirm nor deny if he’s a billionaire.
He sat down with Complex's 360 with Speedy, where Speedy Morman asked about Hart’s net worth, pointing out that, according to Google (which likely pulls from Celebrity Net Worth), it's $400 million.
The comedian and actor seemed confused at first, though. “I don't know what that means,” he said at the 22:13 mark of the video above.
Speedy followed up by asking if the nine-figure amount was “accurate.”
“I don't really think you can trust a lot of that stuff that you read on the internet, right? The internet is weird. So some people just say stuff,” Hart responded.
What exactly did Kevin Hart say about his assumed net worth?
Speedy kept pressing Hart about his net worth. When the host asked again if it was accurate, Hart said, “No, it’s not.” When Hart was asked if it’s “far off,” he said, “What? That number? Yes, of course. It's extremely far.”
“That's a beautiful thing. You're saying you're worth a lot more?” Speedy asked, prompting Hart to say, “I'm saying that that number is far off. What is worth, right? I think the abundance of value comes in happiness.”
What did Kevin Hart tell Gayle King about wanting to be a billionaire?
Speedy then referenced a CBS interview Hart did with Gayle King, where the comedian discussed wanting to be a billionaire by the age of 45.
“Did you fail?” Speedy asked.
Hart laughed, “Did I fail? Did I fail? No. I think failure is in the eyes of the beholder.”
When Speedy pointed out that the “beholder’s right here,” Kevin said, “I'm still working. … Numbers are numbers. As you get older, you realize numbers aren't important, right? Like, there's goals that you have, and all right, you get to those places where you're accomplishing the goals, and then you're like, ‘Ah, this goal is stupid.’”
In 2021, Hart told King, “It’s not about the money. It’s about the title of a billionaire. What does that mean? How did you get there? … The point is about the other Black kids that are from where I’m from…that are told so much is impossible. Well, you can see it is possible.”
What did Kevin Hart say to Speedy about his billionaire status?
Speedy wouldn’t leave the topic alone and again pressed Hart for an answer.
“So, did you fail the billionaire goal by 45?” Speedy asked. “Today, you tell me you're 46 years old. I'm wondering if you accomplished or failed that mission.”
“I think that we are doing good things in business,” Hart explained. “And right now, it's just about keeping our head down and grinding.”
“Congratulations. It's a beautiful thing,” Speedy replied. “Self-made Black billionaire.”
When Hart said, “I don't think I've ever confirmed or denied anything,” Speedy said that Hart had just “essentially confirmed” it. The host added, “And that is to be celebrated. Cheers to billions.”
