George R. R. Martin has some thoughts about the latest season of House of the Dragon.
On his blog, the Game of Thrones creator and author wrote that he’ll address
"everything that’s gone wrong with" the HBO offshoot, which just wrapped Season 2.
"I do not look forward to other posts I need to write, about everything that’s gone wrong with HOUSE OF THE DRAGON… but I need to do that too, and I will. Not today, though," he wrote.
He added that "this has not been a good year for anyone, with war everywhere and fascism on the rise… and on a more personal level, I have had a pretty wretched year as well, one full of stress, anger, conflict, and defeat. I need to talk about some of that, and I will, I will."
Right now, he appears to be focused on his travels, which hasn’t lent much time to unpacking the faults of Season 2 for fans.
According to Variety, some fans felt like the Season 2 finale was a letdown because it ended on a cliffhanger. The new season was also two episodes shorter than the first, with eight episodes instead of 10.
However, he previously applauded Season 2 on his blog, describing the first two episodes as "great" but also "dark." He continued, "They may make you cry. (I did not cry myself, but one of my friends did.) Powerful, emotional, gut-wrenching, heart-rending. Just the sort of thing I like."
House of Dragon has been renewed for Season 3 and looks to have its final season be Season 4.
