Faces of Death has hit a couple of snags prior to its release, resulting in a few changes being made to its rollout.
According to DiscussingFilm.net, the reboot’s first uncensored teaser was taken down from YouTube for violating the platform's "violent or graphic content" policy, prompting the team behind the movie to release a softened version of the trailer.
The film’s theatrical posters are also facing censorship hurdles. Cinemas have refused to hang the Faces of Death 1-sheets in theaters due to the imagery being "too intense" for spaces where children may see them.
Helmed by Daniel Goldhaber, the new movie is a reboot of the original 1978 film of the same name. It follows Barbie Ferreira as a content moderator who comes across graphi
Like the '78 version, which became infamous for fusing staged and real footage, the latest iteration of the horror pic hinges on the same question of: "Is it real or not?"
Further details about the plot have not yet been publicized, but what is known is that the cast also includes Dacre Montgomery, Josie Totah, Aaron Holliday, Jermaine Fowler and Charli XCX.
While Faces of Death is facing some promotional obstacles, the flick will still see a national theatrical release on April 10.
In other horror reboot news, it’s been announced that Scarlett Johansson will be lending her talents to a new Exorcist movie.
According to Variety, Mike Flanagan (Doctor Sleep, The Life of Chuck) has penned a script for a new Exorcist movie, which will have a "radical new take" on the horror franchise. Flanagan will also direct and produce the latest installment.
"Scarlett is a brilliant actress whose captivating performances always feel grounded and real, from genre films to summer blockbusters, and I couldn't be happier to have her join this Exorcist film," Flanagan said in a statement.
