Bhad Bhabie has debuted a new look.
On Sunday, in celebration of Mother’s Day, the rapper took to Instagram to show off her buzzed head.
“MOM” she captioned a set of photos, which included two selfies, a picture of her daughter Kali Love, and an image of Britney Spears from the video for her 1998 hit song, “...Baby One More Time.”
The 23-year-old appears to have been inspired by Spears. In early April, Bhabie posted a photo from Spears’ infamous umbrella incident, which shows the then-25-year-old sporting a shaved haircut.
In February 2007, in Tarzana, California, Britney attacked a paparazzo’s SUV with a green umbrella following a stint in rehab. At that time, she was also embroiled in a high-profile custody dispute over her children with her ex-husband, Kevin Federline. The altercation with paparazzi transpired after Spears endured a mental breakdown, which resulted in her shaving her head—a response to the media intensely scrutinizing her life.
Perhaps Bhad Bhabie feels similarly. Her updated hairstyle arrives after she spent the weekend slamming critics for comparing her current appearance to what she looked like as a teenager.
“Why do people constantly compare photos of me when I was 13-15 thinking I’m gonna look the same at 20-23,” she wrote. “Y’all weird.”
She then explained that she looks older because she’s aged, changed her hairstyle, spent more time in the sun, and had cosmetic enhancements such as lip filler and a nose job. She also addressed longtime accusations that she tries to appear Black through certain hairstyles, makeup choices, or fashion decisions.
“What’s crazy is… y’all were commenting under those pictures when they were first posted saying I wanted to be Black,” she wrote. “But now y’all are making these before and after pictures saying in the before I looked White and then the after I look like I wanna be Black. So which one is it?”
