Angelina Jolie has gotten her groove back.
The actress and mother opened up about her life post-divorce and health struggles, telling Variety while discussing her newest film, Couture, “I think my fighting spirit is finally back.”
The 51-year-old continued, “I lost it for a bit. I got kind of taken down a little bit, and it's coming back in large part thanks to my children, who are now older, and encouraging it.
"My kids are almost all 18, so now they want to see me traveling the world, they want me to get out and do things," Jolie told the outlet. "They know me more than anybody, and they still like me, which says a lot. I think they're very encouraging of me, kind of getting back to aspects of myself that maybe I hadn't felt as free to do.”
Jolie filed for divorce from Brad Pitt in 2016; however, the exes didn’t settle until 2024. In 2013, the actress had a mastectomy after discovering that she had the BRCA1 gene, meaning she had an elevated risk of developing breast cancer. Her mother, actress Marcheline Bertrand, died from cancer in 2007 at the age of 56.
Couture is a moment of art imitating life. In the film, Jolie portrays an American film director who’s working on a project in Europe when she receives her cancer diagnosis.
Jolie and Pitt share six kids: Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Vivienne, and Knox. Their three oldest children were adopted internationally.
