Aaron Pierre has opened up about being cut from the upcoming new Blade movie.
The actor recently sat down with Men’s Health and discussed being let go from the Marvel offering while filming Netflix’s Rebel Ridge.
"I remember being cast in Blade and feeling elated. But something I learned during that time was that until you step foot on the set, you haven’t commenced work," Pierre told the publication. "It just took a different creative direction, and I was no longer a part of it. You have to accept that."
Pierre joined the cast of Blade in February 2022; his departure was announced in March 2024. "Early on, there were conversations," Pierre told Variety at the time. "As the project evolved, I’m no longer part of that."
It seems that there still is no release date for Blade. At this point, it appears the film — which was supposed to arrive in November 2025 — also doesn’t have a director after Bassam Tariq and Yann Demange both exited the project.
Though Pierre will no longer appear in the Marvel movie, he has been making waves with Rebel Ridge and his voiceover work as Mufasa in Mufasa: The Lion King. He’s also set to appear in a handful of new films, including the animated flick Goat, Star Wars: Starfighter, DC’s upcoming Lanterns, and Love of Your Life.
As far as his love life goes, Pierre is dating Teyana Taylor, who recently said she still considers herself a "lover girl" one year after divorcing Iman Shumpert.
The One Battle After Another star spoke in a new Marie Claire story about her romantic side and affirmed that she isn't emotionally weak when it comes to love.
"I’ve noticed that people who will make fun of lovers are people who don’t have the ability to love at the full capacity, and they’re jealous of that," the singer-actor said. "You know the quote 'Good girls finish last?' No, good girls finish on their own divine time."
"Like, I’m going to take my time. And I’m gonna properly love and I’m gonna be a lover girl and I’m gonna be a simp, whatever comes with that. I love to love," Taylor continued.
"People that don’t have emotional intelligence make fun of lovers. I am a soldier of love. I am a love warrior," she added. "I am a lover girl and I love everything about it and I’m okay with that. One thing nobody could ever take away from me is the love that I give."
