Saturday Night Live star Marcello Hernández may not be used to invasive questions, but his answer to Dax Shepard on the Monday, January 26 episode of Armchair Expert made it clear he knows how to answer them.

Hernández, who has appeared on SNL since its 48th season in 2022, was the most recent guest on Shepard's podcast, which recently crossed its thousandth episode. The comedian's recently released Netflix special, American Boy, addresses some of the public's questions about him, but Shepard's questions revolved around something more personal.

When he was probed about Sabrina Carpenter, who has appeared on the long-time variety show several times since he joined SNL, Hernández was quick to shut things down. "I'm in a relationship," he explained, after Shepard asked about the potential of him pursuing Carpenter. "She’s an architect. She’s unreal. She went to Yale." Hernández's partner, Ana Amelia Batlle Cabral, has been in his life for years.

This isn't the first time that Hernández has had to make it clear that he's off the market, but it is the first time he's been so upfront about his partner.

Hernández and Cabra, who have been spotted publicly at events like 2025's Happy Gilmore 2 premiere, have kept their relationship out of the spotlight to the best of their ability as Hernández's newfound fame has blossomed over the years. In the last year, Hernández has gotten progressively more popular, but his relationship has stayed low-key.

While Hernández was quick to shut down romance rumors about Carpenter, he was clear that he enjoys working with her and, after getting to know her throughout her visits to Saturday Night Live, he learned more about her.

"Sabrina's really, like, she's down, she's down to clown. She's down to think of something funny. She's an actress," Hernández explained, going on to share that Carpenter is "really funny" to be around.
