Saturday Night Live recently overhauled its cast and is reportedly eyeing a rising star from the Kill Tony podcast to fill an open spot.
According to a report from TMZ, the longtime NBC comedy sketch show is considering Kill Tony regular Kam Patterson—a 26-year-old comedian out of Orlando, Florida, as someone to add to the show's roster.
TMZ reports that while the show has not yet extended an official offer to Patterson, he's certainly in the running.
Patterson made his debut on Kill Tony back in 2023 and has been a regular on the show ever since—delivering one-minute stand-up sets followed by hilarious interviews with show host Tony Hinchcliffe.
Patterson has also built an impressive following online, with over 400,000 followers on TikTok and more than 500,000 on Instagram. He regularly posts his standup material on the platforms as well as his appearances on various podcasts.
Saturday Night Live has been making headlines as it prepares for its 51st season, debuting October 4 with several members of its cast departing.
Among those leaving are Heidi Gardner, Michael Longfellow, Devon Walker and Emil Wakim. Gardner was on the show for eight seasons while Longfellow, Wakim and Walker had shorter runs on SNL.
In an Instagram post announcing he was leaving the show, Walker got candid about his experience, saying, "To me, jobs in this industry feel like a bunch of little marriages. Some of ’em last for a long time if we’re lucky, but most of them are fleeting. Permanent until they’re not. That’s the deal. You know what it is when you sign up.”
He continued, "Me and the show did three years together, and sometimes it was really cool. Sometimes it was toxic as hell."
It remains to be seen whether SNL will make an official offer to Patterson or who else the show will target to fill the remaining open spots.
