Jacob Elordi fans will have a hard time recognizing their favorite heartthrob as the actor takes on Frankenstein's monster.

In a new interview with Vanity Fair, director Guillermo del Toro gives some updates as well as some of the first images from Frankenstein, a movie he says he's always wanted to make, and one he says took years to convince studios to bring to life.

While Elordi is mostly covered with black cloth in the image from VF, you can see the monster's signature green skin and fresh scars. However, the Vanity Fair piece reveals that when Elordi isn't covered, his monster can be described as "a marble statue from antiquity that has been shattered and fused back together."

Elordi tells VF he drew inspiration from early portrayals of Frankenstein's monster from Boris Karloff, adding, "Something in his gaze, something in the way that he moves…. The biggest thing was just immersing myself in the world of these creatures.”

He also adds the hours spent in the makeup chair each day gave him a chance to meditate and become the monster before stepping in front of the cameras with his costars to make the character come to life.

Elordi is one of the busiest young actors in Hollywood, recently starring in the hugely-successful Saltburn. Of course, fans of Euphoria were delighted to hear the show recently started filming again for a third season, bringing back Elordi and Zendaya in what will be one of the most anticipated seasons of television in quite some time.

What's more, Hans Zimmer, the Academy Award-winning composer behind Interstellar, Dune, Batman Begins, The Lion King and more is set to team up with Labrinth for the upcoming season of Euphoria.

Frankenstein is set for a world premiere at the Venice International Film Festival before a release on Netflix in November 2025.
