Wunmi Mosaku made the 2026 Golden Globes a night to remember—on and off the screen.

While attending the ceremony to celebrate her film Sinners, the Nigerian-British actor surprised fans by debuting her baby bump on the red carpet, confirming she’s expecting her second child.

Mosaku arrived at the Beverly Hilton in a custom Matthew Reisman gown in a vibrant yellow shade that immediately stood out. In a personal essay published by Vogue alongside her red-carpet appearance, Mosaku explained that the color choice referenced a Yoruba phrase, “Iya ni Wúrà,” which translates to “mother is golden.”

As she put it, “I knew it was the right dress and the right moment.”

The timing was intentional. Sinners entered the night with serious momentum, earning seven Golden Globe nominations, including Best Motion Picture – Drama.

With awards season in full swing, Mosaku shared that she decided to be open rather than invite speculation as she continues making public appearances.

“Everything in me resists sharing it publicly—not because I’m not grateful or joyful, but because this feels like one of the few things that truly belongs to me,” she wrote.

Still, she acknowledged that visible changes would spark questions, adding that she chose to stop hiding her pregnancy so she and her baby could “enjoy and embrace the moment fully together.”

Already a mother of one, Mosaku also candidly reflected on pregnancy as a Black woman. She noted that joy and anxiety often coexist due to real and ongoing disparities in maternal healthcare. “Holding joy and fear at the same time is not abstract,” she wrote, pointing directly to lived experience and medical bias.

Despite those realities, Mosaku is balancing celebration with preparation. Between awards events, she’s spending time at home with her toddler and continuing to build beyond acting. She revealed she’s launching a clothing line for mothers called Iyadé, a Yoruba phrase meaning “mother has arrived.”
