The 2026 Critics' Choice Awards nominations are officially out, and one title is clearly setting the pace. Ryan Coogler’s Sinners emerged as the most-nominated film of the year, earning 17 nods across major categories, including Best Picture.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the announcement places Sinners at the center of an increasingly competitive awards season as studios and streamers jockey for early momentum.

Close behind are One Battle After Another with 14 nominations, and Hamnet and Frankenstein, which each picked up 11. Collectively, the results highlight a strong showing from Warner Bros., which led all studios with 36 film nominations. Netflix followed with 27 film nods.

The Critics' Choice Association unveiled the nominations across E! and USA Network broadcasts, along with a digital livestream on the organization’s official platforms, making the announcement widely accessible to audiences and industry watchers alike.

Beyond Sinners, several films posted notable performances across multiple categories. Marty Supreme secured eight nominations, while F1, Sentimental Value, and Wicked: For Good each landed seven.

Projects like Train Dreams, Jay Kelly, Weapons, and Bugonia also appeared consistently across key creative and technical categories, signaling a broad and diverse field.

On the television side, Netflix’s Adolescence led all series with six nominations, followed by Nobody Wants This with five. Strong four-nomination showings came from titles including Severance, Hacks, The Diplomat, The Pitt, and Ghosts. In total, Netflix topped the TV nominations with 31, edging out HBO Max with 27.

This year also marks an expansion for the Critics' Choice Awards, with four new categories added: Best Variety Series, Best Stunt Design, Best Casting/Ensemble, and Best Sound.

According to Critics' Choice Association CEO Joey Berlin, the additions reflect evolving audience interests and growing recognition of behind-the-scenes excellence. “Our voters are the critics and entertainment reporters who help audiences find the best of the best every day,” Berlin said in a statement.

Hosted once again by Chelsea Handler, the 2026 Critics' Choice Awards will air live on Sunday, Jan. 4, from Santa Monica’s Barker Hangar.
