Tina Knowles is giving flowers where they’re due—and doing it loudly.

As Michelle Obama’s documentary Becoming continues its unexpected run inside Netflix’s U.S. Top 10, Knowles took to social media with a message that quickly caught attention.

“It’s tough for people when you are so damn fly!” Knowles wrote. “Classy, intelligent, beautiful, respected!!!”

Knowles and Obama have shared a public friendship for years, often appearing at each other’s major milestones.

That bond was on full display last year. As reported by Vogue in May 2025, while Beyoncé was traveling on her Cowboy Carter tour, Knowles was making stops of her own.

One of the most notable came in Washington, D.C., where she celebrated her memoir Matriarch at the Theater at MGM National Harbor. The event was hosted by Michelle Obama herself.

Knowles’ latest message arrives at a moment when Becoming has reclaimed cultural visibility. The documentary, directed by Nadia Hallgren and released on Netflix in May 2020, follows Obama during her nationwide book tour for her bestselling memoir of the same name.

The film blends onstage conversations with behind-the-scenes footage, capturing her reflections on identity, public life, and community.

Nearly six years after its debut, Becoming has surged back into Netflix’s Daily Top 10 Movies in the United States, climbing as high as No. 6 after re-entering the chart over the weekend.

The renewed traction appears to be driven less by promotion and more by audience behavior. Social media users have been encouraging others to stream the film, framing it as a collective viewing moment. Netflix’s algorithm, which heavily weighs recent viewership spikes, has responded accordingly.

Originally, Becoming had a relatively short Top 10 lifespan during its 2020 release, spending fewer than seven days on the chart. Since then, Netflix engagement reports show the documentary has continued to attract steady interest, with an estimated 1.5 million views between 2023 and 2025.
