Tabitha Brown, the 46-year-old actress, entrepreneur, and social media favorite, has been candid about the challenges of running her businesses during turbulent times.
According to The Grio, she recently revealed at the inaugural Clover x Shark Tank Summit in Las Vegas that her Donna’s Recipe haircare brand was directly impacted by the Target boycotts earlier this year.
Brown explained that her team had been preparing to launch a perfume line in February, but with the boycott starting just a month earlier, the outlook was grim. “It was a major hit,” she said while reflecting on the financial setback.
The solution came through a pivot—shifting the new fragrance release to HSN instead of relying on Target shelves. That move, she said, became her “saving grace” as she worked to keep her business afloat amid unpredictable market conditions.
While Brown has continued to address the economic realities head-on, she has also been vocal about the rising negativity surrounding Black brands and events online. On Wednesday, October 8, she took to Threads not with a business announcement, but with a prayer.
“I pray that God releases that negativity from your spirit,” Brown began in the video, directly addressing critics, gossip blogs, and content creators spreading false narratives. Her words carried the same calm and grounded delivery that has made her an online favorite.
She went on to pray for those choosing to focus on tearing others down. “I pray that joy finds you. I pray that your life becomes so abundantly blessed that all you want to do is normalize positivity,” she continued. “I pray that happiness and love pours out into your life. I pray financial blessings over your life.”
Brown also spoke to the importance of creating with authenticity. “I pray it gets better for you that your life is enough that you can make genuine content that is authentic to you and that it’s real,” she added.
She closed with a reminder her followers know well: “Have the most amazing day. But even if you can’t have a good one, don’t you dare go messing up nobody else’s.”
In her caption, Brown summed up the message: “For those being affected keep your head up and keep doing what God has called you to do! You’re doing a great job!”
