Victoria Beckham made her first public social media appearance since her family’s very public fallout—and notably, it had nothing to do with the ongoing tension involving her eldest son.

Instead of addressing the controversy, the fashion designer and former Spice Girl used her Instagram Stories to celebrate longtime friend and bandmate Emma Bunton, who turned 50 this week.

Victoria shared a throwback photo of the two from their Spice Girls era, pairing it with a simple but affectionate message: “Happy birthday @emmaleebunton. I love you so much!!”

She followed that post with a second Story featuring a clip from the 1996 Spice Girls hit "Say You'll Be There." The video highlighted Emma’s solo moment, with Victoria adding, “Happy birthday Baby. Kisses xxx.”

The posts marked Victoria’s first visible activity on social media since her son, Brooklyn, made headlines earlier this week with an explosive statement about the family.

Victoria and Emma have remained close since the Spice Girls split in 2001, frequently showing up for one another at major milestones. Emma, along with Geri Halliwell-Horner and Melanie Chisholm, attended the premiere of Victoria’s Netflix documentary last fall, and all four of Victoria’s former bandmates were guests at her 50th birthday celebration in London in 2024.

While Victoria did not join the group onstage during their 2019 reunion tour, she publicly wished them well ahead of opening night, writing at the time, “Good luck to the girls today as they start their tour!”

Victoria’s decision to spotlight friendship and nostalgia came just days after her son Brooklyn Beckham posted a series of emotional Instagram Stories accusing his parents of controlling his narrative in the media and attempting to damage his marriage to Nicola Peltz Beckham.

Brooklyn claimed he had tried to keep the situation private for years but felt compelled to speak out after what he described as “countless lies” being published.

Among his allegations, Brooklyn said his parents pressured him to sign away the rights to his name ahead of his wedding and accused his mother of hijacking his first dance with Nicola. He described the moment as humiliating and said he no longer wished to reconcile with his family.

The comments prompted a response—albeit indirect—from David Beckham, who addressed the situation at the World Economic Forum in Davos.

During a panel discussion about social media, David said, “Children are allowed to make mistakes—that’s how they learn.”
