Sia to Pay Estranged Husband Dan Bernad $42.5K Monthly in Child Support

The agreement follows months of legal back-and-forth, including Bernad’s $250K support request and court-ordered mediation.

Sia has reached a new agreement in her divorce case with estranged husband Dan Bernad, settling one of the biggest issues in their ongoing custody dispute.

According to newly filed court documents obtained by TMZ, Sia has agreed to pay Bernad $42,500 per month in child support for the couple’s 17-month-old son, Somersault.

The payments began on April 1 and are scheduled to be made on the first day of every month. The agreement also lays out how the former couple will divide time with their child. Sia and Bernad will share legal custody, while major holidays will be split between them. Bernad will have Hanukkah and Father’s Day, while Sia will spend Christmas, Easter, and Mother’s Day with their son.

The child-support deal marks a notable shift in what has been an increasingly public divorce battle. Sia filed for divorce in March, citing irreconcilable differences after less than four years of marriage.

Since then, the breakup has expanded into a broader legal fight over custody and finances, with Sia represented by high-profile divorce attorney Laura Wasser.

Earlier in the proceedings, Bernad asked the court for significantly more financial support. In a filing submitted last October, he requested $250,856 a month in temporary spousal support, arguing that he had become financially dependent on Sia during their marriage.

“Orders are necessary at this time because I am financially dependent on Sia, the breadwinner in our marriage,” Bernad wrote in the filing.

Bernad said he gave up his work as a radiation oncologist after Sia objected to the long hours his job required. He claimed the two instead opened a ketamine clinic together in Los Angeles in 2021.

According to Bernad, the clinic later lost its funding, leaving him without income. He also stated that his medical license had expired and that returning to his former career would require “several years of training and pass several rigorous exams.”

The custody agreement arrives after months of increasingly serious accusations between the two. Bernad previously sought sole custody over alleged drug abuse, while Sia denied his allegations and countered with claims of her own.

A judge later ordered both sides into mediation in an effort to resolve disputes involving their son.
