Francesca Scorsese is pushing back after a wave of online abuse followed the announcement that she landed a role in Season 2 of Mr. & Mrs. Smith.

According to The New York Post, the 26-year-old actress and filmmaker, who is the youngest daughter of legendary director Martin Scorsese, addressed the backlash in a TikTok video after trolls flooded her comments with insults about her appearance and accusations that her career exists solely because of her famous last name.

Francesca said the reaction escalated beyond the usual “nepo baby” criticism that often follows celebrity children online. After reposting news about her upcoming role in the Prime Video series, she said she was hit with some of the “worst comments” she has ever received.

While acknowledging the privilege tied to being Scorsese’s daughter, she made it clear she’s still putting in the work. “I know I have doors opened for me,” she said in the video. “I’m still trying to do the work, I’m still going hard and being passionate and creating.”

The comments quickly turned personal. Francesca said users mocked her weight and appearance, with some comparing her to “Miss Piggy” and a “fridge.” She responded directly to the insults, saying, “I’m not the skinniest girl in the whole world. I’m chubby, I know it. But like, what the f*ck does it matter?”

She also called out the culture of people seeking out strangers online simply to tear them down, adding that social media harassment can have serious real-world consequences.

Francesca has grown up closely tied to one of Hollywood’s most influential filmmaking families. In addition to appearing in films like The Aviator and The Departed, she also starred in HBO’s We Are Who We Are.

Her father, meanwhile, built a decades-long career directing classics including Taxi Driver, Goodfellas, and The Departed.

The younger Scorsese also spoke candidly about living in the shadow of such a towering figure in cinema. “I know I have a huge figure, my father, to live up to,” she said. “That always overshadows me as a person.”

Interest around Mr. & Mrs. Smith Season 2 continues to build, though details about her character remain under wraps. Francesca is expected to appear as part of one of the series’ central spy pairings.
