Love & Hip Hop mainstay Mendeecees Harris has publicly addressed the status of his long-running relationship with Yandy Smith-Harris, clarifying weeks of speculation and persistent online chatter.
Speaking on Yung Joc and the Streetz Morning Takeover, Mendeecees confirmed that he and Yandy are no longer together, while also shutting down reports of a divorce.
“We not together. We was never legally married, so [we’re not getting divorced],” he explained.
According to him, their relationship status was shaped by practical decisions made years ago. He said the couple chose not to file marriage paperwork while he was dealing with legal issues, and that decision carried on over time.
Mendeecees also addressed their televised wedding, stating it was done for the show rather than as a legal union. “I didn’t do it for TV. It was Yandy’s idea,” he said, adding that skipping legal paperwork ultimately spared them the complications that often come with divorce proceedings involving assets and finances.
Despite the split, he described the relationship as transformative, noting that the two had been together for more than 20 years and shared a deep personal history. “I matured in so many ways being with Yandy,” he said. “I wouldn’t be the man I am today if it wasn’t for her.”
He further acknowledged ongoing rumors surrounding both of them, including speculation about his alleged involvement with singer Tamar Braxton, which has circulated online and in reality TV conversations. While Mendeecees did not elaborate on those claims, he emphasized that he and Yandy have been separated for over a year and struggled to align moving forward.
Shortly after his comments went viral, Yandy shared a series of reflective messages on her Instagram Story that appeared to respond indirectly to the situation.
One post read, “Now I finally understand the difference between people who love me, people who love to be around me, and people who love what I can do for them.”
Another message added, “‘You’re quieter now,’ I heard my business from people that I didn’t tell.”
