Fans of Lioness finally have an answer to the question they've been asking since production wrapped earlier this year. Paramount+ has announced that Season 3 of Taylor Sheridan's espionage thriller will premiere on August 2, bringing Zoe Saldaña's CIA operative Joe McNamara back to screens after a lengthy wait between seasons.

According to Deadline, the release date arrives several months after the series completed filming in North Texas, where production spent nearly five months shooting across Dallas-Fort Worth. With post-production now complete, Paramount is moving forward with the next chapter of a series that has become one of the streaming platform's signature dramas.

Season 3 raises the stakes for Joe as threats emerge from multiple directions. According to Paramount's synopsis, hidden networks, foreign operatives, and personal betrayals converge as Joe struggles to balance her professional responsibilities with her increasingly complicated personal life.

Guided by Kaitlyn Meade, played by Nicole Kidman, and CIA official Byron Westfield, portrayed by Michael Kelly, Joe finds herself facing enemies whose influence extends far beyond the battlefield.

The new season builds directly on the fallout from Season 2, which shifted the CIA's counterterrorism efforts closer to American soil. As pressure mounted around the Lioness program, Joe was forced to confront the personal cost of leading high-risk undercover operations.

The upcoming episodes appear set to continue that trajectory, with the consequences of her work reaching deeper into her family and professional relationships.

The release date announcement also follows months of enthusiasm from the cast after filming concluded in March. Actor James Jordan, who plays Two Cups, celebrated the end of production with a social media post thanking the series, while Jill Wagner described the experience of making Season 3 as "epic."

Earlier interviews similarly suggested the new season would expand the series’ scale, with Jordan teasing that the story would be bigger than anything viewers had seen before.

Created by Taylor Sheridan, Lioness debuted on Paramount+ in 2023 and stars Saldaña alongside Kidman, Morgan Freeman, Michael Kelly, Laysla De Oliveira, Dave Annable, Jill Wagner, LaMonica Garrett, Genesis Rodriguez, Austin Hébert, Jonah Wharton, Thad Luckinbill, Hannah Love Lanier, James Jordan, and Ian Bohen. Saldaña and Kidman also serve as executive producers on the series.
