Xbox is kicking off 2026 with a packed Game Pass slate that blends blockbuster franchises, day-one releases, and quieter cult favorites—though navigating what’s actually available depends heavily on which subscription tier you’re on.
According to Polygon, after Microsoft reworked the Xbox Game Pass structure in late 2025, the service now spans multiple tiers, and January’s rollout makes those distinctions clearer than ever.
The year opens with immediate additions like Brews & Bastards, a chaotic twin-stick shooter filled with dungeon crawling and demon-smashing mayhem, and Little Nightmares Enhanced Edition, which brings the eerie fan favorite back with 4K visuals and smoother performance. Both are playable across cloud, console, and PC for higher-tier subscribers.
A major wave arrives on January 7, when several titles expand beyond their previous availability. Atomfall lands with its alternate-history survival setup inspired by Britain’s Windscale nuclear disaster, while Lost in Random: The Eternal Die delivers fast-paced action built around dice mechanics and risk-reward combat. That same day also brings Rematch, a stripped-down, arcade-style football game, and Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine – Master Crafted Edition, an upgraded take on the cult sci-fi shooter.
Classic RPG fans get a treat on January 8 with the return of the original Final Fantasy, rebuilt in a modernized 2D style while keeping its retro roots intact.
One of the month’s biggest additions follows on January 13 with Star Wars: Outlaws, the first open-world Star Wars title. Set between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, the game puts players in control of outlaw Kay Vess as she navigates the galaxy’s criminal underworld. It’s available to Ultimate subscribers and PC players.
Mid-month offerings skew lighter with My Little Pony: A Zephyr Heights Mystery, before horror fans get their fix on January 20. That’s when Resident Evil Village joins the lineup, alongside MIO: Memories in Orbit, a day-one metroidvania release centered on exploration and environmental storytelling.
As new games arrive, several titles—including Neon White, Road 96, and The Ascent—exit the library on January 15.
