Leaked Best Buy Email Sparks ‘GTA 6’ Preorder Frenzy Ahead of Launch

Best Buy affiliate emails hint at a May 2026 GTA 6 preorder window — here’s what the leak says, what’s confirmed, and what could still be a placeholder move.

A possible GTA 6 preorder date may have surfaced early thanks to an apparent leak tied to Best Buy affiliate emails—and fans are already treating it like the biggest clue yet that Rockstar Games is finally preparing to ramp up its marketing campaign.

According to Vice, multiple Best Buy affiliates reportedly received promotional emails referencing a “GTA 6 Pre Order (Physical Game)” campaign scheduled to run from May 18 through May 21, 2026. The emails also mentioned a 5% online sale figure, though it remains unclear whether that refers to affiliate commission or a customer-facing promotion.

The leak first gained traction after creators and deal-tracking accounts began publicly sharing screenshots. YouTuber Frogboyx1Gaming posted what appeared to be an email address during a livestream, while other users across social media claimed to have received identical messages.

Reports later indicated that Insider Gaming verified the emails as legitimate Best Buy affiliate communications, adding more credibility to the claims.

Still, no official preorder announcement has been made by Rockstar Games or parent company Take-Two Interactive. Some observers have cautioned that the emails could reflect placeholder information, a retailer-side mistake, or an internal campaign not intended for public release. But with Grand Theft Auto 6 now less than six months from launch, the timing has fueled speculation that something larger may be imminent.

The reported preorder window also aligns with recent comments from Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick, who has repeatedly stated that marketing for GTA 6 would intensify in summer 2026. The company continues to hold firm to the game’s November 19, 2026, release date for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, despite earlier delays that pushed the title back from previous launch targets.

Fans have also connected the preorder chatter to growing rumors surrounding a third trailer. Rockstar briefly took parts of its website database offline earlier this month, prompting theories that new promotional materials could be on the way.

If the May 18 preorder date proves accurate, many expect Rockstar to accompany it with fresh footage, updated gameplay details, or pricing information.

That pricing conversation has already become a major talking point around GTA 6. Recent comments from Zelnick suggested the game would likely fall within the current AAA pricing range of $70 to $80, cooling earlier speculation that Rockstar could attempt a much higher launch price.
