Garcelle Beauvais is shedding new light on her exit from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, revealing that the decision came after months of feeling disconnected from the show and concerned about what staying longer might have cost her personally.

Appearing on On Par with Maury Povich, the actress and producer was asked the question many Bravo fans are still asking: Why walk away after five seasons? Beauvais said the answer wasn't tied to a single dramatic incident. Instead, she described a growing realization that the series was no longer aligned with where she was in her life.

"It was just time for me," Beauvais told Povich. "I did five seasons and it just felt like my spirit was no longer there and I couldn't do it any longer, honestly."

According to Beauvais, the feeling developed gradually in the months leading up to the Season 14 reunion. While she said she still has positive memories from her time on the franchise, she found herself no longer looking forward to filming.

"It was a feeling over time in the last few months leading up to the reunion," she explained. "I just wasn't happy to go to work. It didn't feel like it resonated with me anymore."

Since leaving RHOBH, she's shifted much of her focus toward producing projects, including Lifetime's successful Black Girl Missing franchise, while also developing new television concepts of her own.

During the conversation, Povich also asked whether there was a specific point when she knew she was done. Beauvais acknowledged there was a boundary she ultimately refused to cross.

"I really left after the reunion," she said. "I didn't know if I was going to really quit after the reunion, but there was just a line that I no longer wanted to cross at that point."

The theme of personal boundaries surfaced repeatedly throughout the interview. Beauvais discussed her new Audible project, Protecting My Peace…At All Costs, and spoke about learning to prioritize her own well-being after decades in the entertainment industry.

That philosophy appeared to extend directly to her decision to leave reality television. During a game segment, Povich presented a scenario in which a potentially compelling storyline was turned down because it conflicted with personal values. Beauvais quickly sided with protecting her integrity.

"You have to have integrity about something," she said. "You can't sell your soul for this industry."

When Povich asked whether remaining on RHOBH longer would have pushed her in that direction, Beauvais offered perhaps her most revealing answer of the interview.

"I don't think so," she said of her time on the show. "But I think had I stayed longer than I needed to, yes, I would have because it was hurting me inside."
