Apple TV+ has confirmed that Foundation will return for a fourth season, extending the ambitious sci-fi drama based on Isaac Asimov’s legendary novels.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, the renewal arrives just ahead of the season three finale, which streams this week, with production for the next chapter slated to begin in early 2026.
The series, known for its centuries-spanning narrative of empire, rebellion, and survival, has become one of Apple TV+’s most ambitious projects.
Co-showrunners Ian Goldberg and David Kob said in a statement, “There is no series quite like Foundation, and we feel lucky and honored to be carrying the torch forward into season four. We look forward to continuing the epic, emotional storytelling that defined the first three seasons of the show.”
While the ensemble cast features veterans like Jared Harris and Lee Pace, much of the spotlight has shifted toward Lou Llobell, who portrays Gaal Dornick.
For Llobell, the role has been career-defining. Born in Zimbabwe in 1995 to a Spanish father and Zimbabwean mother, she grew up between Spain and South Africa before relocating to England in 2013. She studied drama at the University of Birmingham and later trained at the Drama Centre London, graduating with a master’s in 2018.
Llobell first appeared on screen in 2021’s Voyagers before stepping into the role of Gaal Dornick that same year when Foundation premiered. Her performance as a brilliant mathematician caught between destiny and personal conviction has earned praise from both critics and fans.
In addition to Foundation, she has been cast in upcoming projects like The Pilgrim and the film Beach Boys.
