Former Destiny's Child member Farrah Franklin is addressing recent comments made by Terrence Howard, pushing back on his claim that he once dated a member of the iconic group after passing on an opportunity with Beyoncé.
Franklin spoke to People about the actor’s comments, confirming they spent time together but disputing the nature of their relationship. “Terrence and I had a few friendly outings—nothing romantic,” she said, adding that their interactions included studio visits.
She also praised Howard’s creative abilities, calling him “super talented,” while making clear she would not expand on other aspects of his story. “I wish everyone well and remain focused on my own journey,” she added.
The exchange stems from Howard’s recent appearance on the PBD Podcast, where he reflected on past encounters in the entertainment industry.
During the conversation, he said he had an early opportunity to pursue Beyoncé but instead connected with another member of Destiny’s Child, whom he referred to as “the girl with the blue eyes.” While he did not name Franklin directly, she is the only former member fitting that description during the group’s transitional lineup in the early 2000s.
Destiny’s Child, originally formed in Houston, rose to global prominence with its most recognized lineup: Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland, and Michelle Williams.
Franklin joined the group briefly during a transitional period before departing, while the trio of Beyoncé, Rowland, and Williams went on to define the group’s most successful era.
“I remember Beyoncé looking over at me,” Howard said during the interview, suggesting the moment carried personal meaning tied to their earlier interaction. He noted that the events took place “a very, very long ago.”
The clarification from Franklin arrives as Howard’s podcast appearance continues to generate headlines for multiple revelations.
He said those experiences shaped his views on intimacy and led him to become highly protective as a parent.
