Kelly Rowland is in full promo mode for her upcoming tour with Brandy and Monica, The Boy Is Mine, but during a recent stop at SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live, it was a surprise moment from Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter tour that stole the spotlight.

While chatting with Andy Cohen, Rowland opened up about the viral final-night reunion that saw her join Beyoncé onstage—an appearance fans assumed had been carefully planned. According to Rowland, that couldn’t be further from the truth.

When Cohen asked how long the reunion had been in the works, Rowland didn’t hesitate: “It was more like, ‘Hey, come,’” she said. Pressed again, she repeated it with a laugh: “Literally on the fly.”

Even with the spontaneity, Rowland made it clear that stepping into Beyoncé’s world requires immediate respect for her preparation and stamina. “Beyoncé worked her behind off for this tour,” she told Cohen. “When you actually go on the stage that she’s on for what, three hours? … She had to have at least ran, jigged, danced, walked a couple of miles because the stage is so massive.”

Rowland admitted she was counting steps the second she arrived: “Right foot—no, that’s left foot. Like it was literally that.”

The conversation shifted to Destiny’s Child and whether Rowland wants her children to see the group perform together one day. Instead of focusing on legacy, she highlighted the personal relationships her son already has with “Auntie BB and Auntie Mimi.”

Rowland explained, “He doesn’t know who Destiny’s Child is, but he knows who Auntie BB and Auntie Mimi are…those are his aunties. And that one really kind of rocks. That one is actually the best one.”

Rowland also reflected on her early creative years, including working with Kandi Burruss—an era she remembers vividly.

“I remember what the studio smelled like,” she said. “I remember walking in there and her saying, ‘I got this idea for a song.’”

Burruss acted as a guiding force in the room: “She was like a big sister in the studio… Kandi’s always been that chick, will always be that chick, and nobody better ever say shit about Kandi. That’s my girl.”

As for watching Burruss dominate reality TV, Rowland confirmed she tuned in. “I got really mad at other people on the show,” she admitted. “Don’t mess with Kandi.”
