Brandy officially received her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Monday, March 30, using the moment to reflect on the dream that started when she was a child growing up in Los Angeles.

According to MyTalk 107.1, the singer and actress was honored with the 2,839th star on the famed stretch of Hollywood Boulevard in recognition of her music career. During the ceremony, Brandy appeared emotional as she addressed the crowd and spoke about seeing the Walk of Fame as a young girl.

“So, this really happened, huh? This is truly mind-blowing,” she said. “Back then, I was just a little girl with a big dream, but growing up in Hollywood made those dreams feel close enough to touch.”

Brandy explained that seeing the names embedded in the sidewalk inspired her from an early age. “I’m going to sing my way onto one of these stars,” she remembered telling herself. “And I did.”

Brandy also used her speech to describe what the honor represents beyond celebrity. “A star on the Walk of Fame is a definition of legacy,” she said. “It doesn’t just celebrate your success; it cements your story.”

She continued by describing the star as proof that perseverance matters as much as achievement: “It is a symbol that says you didn’t just arrive, you endured.”

The ceremony included remarks from Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, who helped shape one of the defining songs of Brandy’s early career. Babyface recalled working with her on “Sittin’ Up in My Room,” which he wrote for the Waiting to Exhale soundtrack after Whitney Houston selected Brandy to record it.

“When we recorded that song in my house… I couldn’t believe what I was hearing,” Babyface said. “For me, you have one of the best voices I’ve ever heard.” He praised both her technical ability and emotional delivery, adding, “With everything that you sing, you put your whole heart into it.”

The recognition comes during a busy year for Brandy. She has announced her memoir, PHASES, scheduled for release on March 31, will examine both her career and personal life.

She has also been preparing to reunite with Monica at Essence Fest 2026, where the pair is part of an R&B-heavy lineup that also includes Kehlani and Patti LaBelle.

The New Orleans festival is being creatively overseen by Teyana Taylor.
