Amazon Is Exploring an ‘Apprentice’ Revival With Donald Trump Jr. in the Mix

Amazon weighs reviving the reality TV juggernaut with Donald Trump Jr. in the boardroom, but says plans for an 'Apprentice' reboot are still speculative.

Amazon is reportedly exploring a revival of The Apprentice, with early conversations suggesting a new version led by Donald Trump Jr. rather than the original host.

According to Variety, the idea is still in its earliest stages inside Amazon following its acquisition of MGM. Executives have reportedly discussed what the future could look like for the long-dormant franchise on Prime Video, though the company has emphasized that the project is not currently in active development and that any specifics around format or casting remain undecided.

The original series, created by producer Mark Burnett, debuted in 2004 and quickly became one of NBC’s biggest reality hits. Built around high-stakes business challenges, the show followed contestants competing for a one-year contract tied to the Trump-related businesses.

Its boardroom format and elimination phrase—“You’re fired!”—became a defining part of early-2000s pop culture, helping to turn the series into a multi-season franchise with celebrity spin-offs and international adaptations.

When asked about the reboot chatter, Trump acknowledged the speculation but stopped short of confirming anything concrete. “I’ve been hearing it,” he said during a recent press event. “So we’ll see what happens.”

He added of his son, “He’s good. He’s a good guy. He’s probably good. He’s got a little charisma going.”

Amazon has taken a cautious stance publicly. In a statement, a spokesperson said that since acquiring MGM, there have been “preliminary internal discussions about what’s next for The Apprentice as a property,” while stressing that the show “is not in active development” and that reports involving potential hosts are “purely speculative.”

Amazon executives also indicated that no outreach has been made to external producers or talent at this stage.

Reruns of The Apprentice recently returned to streaming, introducing the show to a new audience while re-engaging longtime viewers. The series originally ran for 15 seasons across multiple formats between 2004 and 2017, earning several Emmy nominations and maintaining a consistent presence in the reality competition space.
