90 Day Fiancé viewers have watched Chantel Everett navigate love, heartbreak, and public scrutiny for nearly a decade.

Before this latest chapter, Everett was best known for her marriage to Pedro Jimeno, a relationship that unfolded across multiple seasons of the franchise and its spinoff, The Family Chantel. The marriage ultimately ended in divorce in 2022.

After that split, Everett re-entered the spotlight on 90 Day: Hunt for Love, where she began reflecting more openly on who she was outside of her previous marriage. During the season, she shared that she was reassessing her approach to dating and relationships altogether—something that would soon lead to an unexpected turn.

That turn involved longtime friend Ashley Bowen. The two initially met through Everett’s brother, River Everett, whom Bowen first crossed paths with at social gatherings before becoming close friends. Their bond grew gradually, remaining platonic while Chantel worked through questions about her sexuality and emotional readiness.

What began as a friendship eventually shifted after a night spent talking and drinking wine, when Ashley admitted she had romantic feelings for Chantel and kissed her—an experience Chantel later described as both shocking and meaningful.

By August, Chantel publicly confirmed she was exploring a relationship with Ashley, telling cameras that the connection felt real and emotionally grounded. She explained that dating different people helped her realize just how much she cared for Ashley and that she wanted to pursue the relationship seriously.

In later interviews, Chantel emphasized that the pace of their transition from friends to partners felt healthy and safe.

That relationship reached a milestone on December 17, when Ashley proposed during what Chantel believed was a routine photo and video shoot. Instead, the moment turned into a surprise engagement at Uhuburg, a Renaissance-style castle in Helen, Georgia. Ashley got down on one knee, presented a ring, and debuted an original song written for the occasion titled “Duet for Juliet.”

Speaking exclusively to People, the couple described the proposal—and their relationship—as deeply genuine. “Our love feels like it was written in the stars,” they said. “So romantic, so authentic, so raw. We love that about ourselves. We love that about our love story.”
