UPDATED 5/28, 8:00 p.m. ET: Tom Hardy has not been fired from the show MobLand despite previous reports that claimed he had been.
Earlier this month, Puck News reported that the British actor, who plays gangster Harry Da Souza, had been asked not to return to the hit TV series due to disagreements with executive producer Jez Butterworth and 101 Studios.
However, Variety has now confirmed this not to be true, and that discussions are actually taking place to find a way to bring Hardy back for season three.
"Tom was not fired, the door is not closed for Season 3 and things are being worked through creatively,” a source told the publication.
The show, which also stars Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren, is produced by David Glasser's 101 Studios and MTV Entertainment Studios. Guy Ritchie, who is a fan of Hardy, is an executive producer on the show and has directed a number of episodes.
"I’m sure Guy is probably pushing David Glasser to make it work," a source told Variety. "Guy likes working with Tom."

Tom Hardy reportedly won’t be appearing in any future seasons of Mobland after allegedly clashing with the production team.
According to Variety, Hardy wrapped production on Season 2 in March, but he’s been asked not to return due to disagreements with executive producer Jez Butterworth and 101 Studios.
The show has proved successful on Paramount+, accumulating over 26 million views in its first season, but the show’s creators will now be forced to go ahead without Hardy attached.
Puck News were first to report on Hardy’s departure, and indicated that outside of creative clashes, the actor was regularly late to set. He also allegedly "constantly asked to give notes on scripts," and became disillusioned with the increased focus on other actors featured in the show. The second season of MobLand is still expected to premiere this year.
Hardy plays Harry Da Souza in the show, serving as a fixer of sorts for the Harrigan crime family. He co-stars alongside Pierce Brosnan, Paddy Considine, Joanne Froggatt, Toby Jones, and Helen Mirren, among others. Additionally, Hardy’s production company, Hardy Son and Baker, also served as one of several production companies associated with the series. Season 3 has yet to be formally announced.
This isn’t the first time Hardy has bumped heads with people on set. He famously clashed with Charlize Theron on the set of the 2015 action classic Mad Max: Fury Road, with the latter indicating that they "fuckin’ went at it" during its production.
Speaking with The New York Times in 2020, Hardy expressed regret for his behavior. "I think in hindsight, I was in over my head in many ways. The pressure on both of us was overwhelming at times," he said. "What she needed was a better, perhaps more experienced, partner in me. That’s something that can’t be faked. I’d like to think that now that I’m older and uglier, I could rise to that occasion."
