UPDATED 12/15/25, 2:55 p.m. ET: Nick Reiner, the son of Rob and Michele Reiner, has been arrested and booked on murder charges in connection with the deaths of his parents.
"This is proceeding as a murder investigation," a law enforcement official shared with Deadline. "We're putting together a timeline." Nick was booked at 5:04 a.m. local time on Monday (Dec. 15), and his bail has been set at $4 million. Sources said he recently moved back in with his parents.
UPDATED 12/15/24, 9:50 a.m. ET: Rob and Michele Reiner's son Nick is reportedly in custody of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department as of Monday (Dec. 15) following the discovery of the couple's bodies at their home in Los Angeles.
As reported by TMZ, 32-year-old Nick Reiner is in custody and being questioned by police. He is currently being held on $4 million bail.
One of Rob and Michele's daughters discovered their bodies with their throats slit. It was reported that sources close to the Reiner family alleged that Nick was involved in their murders.

Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, were both allegedly killed by a family member at their Brentwood-area home this weekend.
TMZ reports that the couple’s throats were slit by a family member, and that one of their daughters discovered their bodies. The daughter also allegedly told authorities that the family member who is being questioned “should be a suspect” and considered “dangerous.”
As reported by People, sources who have spoken with the Reiner family alleged that the couple’s 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, is being questioned by authorities following the discovery of Rob, 78, and Michele’s, 68, bodies at their home in Los Angeles. This, however, has not been publicly confirmed by police.

Rob Reiner—who wrote, directed, and starred in Spinal Tap II earlier this year—had a storied career in film, appearing both in front of the camera and directing several beloved movies. Among his most acclaimed projects are Stand by Me, The Princess Bride, Misery, When Harry Met Sally, and This Is Spinal Tap. As an actor, he appeared in several of his own projects and had a memorable role in The Wolf of Wall Street as Jordan Belfort’s father, Max. He most recently appeared in three episodes of The Bear Season 4.
The couple’s son, Nick, previously spoke with People and said that he struggled with drug addiction from as early as 15. In 2015, Nick co-wrote the script for Being Charlie, which was based on his experience with drug addiction and homelessness. His father, Rob, directed the movie.
Rob and Michele are survived by their three children, sons Jake and Nick, and daughter Romy. Rob also adopted Tracy Reiner during his marriage to actor and director Penny Marshall, to whom he was married from 1971 to 1981. The investigation into their deaths is ongoing.
There has been an outpouring of love for the couple following the discovery of their bodies, with everyone from Barack Obama to Ben Stiller sharing tributes.
