UPDATED Feb. 11, 5:55 p.m. ET: The Hollywood Reporter has obtained a statement from The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in response to the wave of criticism over leaving Luke Perry, Sid Haig, and Cameron Boyce, among others, off the In Memoriam segment of their Oscars telecast Sunday.

The In Memoriam segment at the 2020 Oscars on Sunday did not include Luke Perry and cult horror favorite Sid Haig, among others. The segment featured Oscar-winner Kobe Bryant, Agnes Varda, and Kirk Douglas, but Perry and Haig were only included on the longer list on the Academy's website.
Perry's absence from the televised In Memoriam is particularly strange considering he appeared in Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, which was nominated for ten awards and walked away with two wins. The 90210 actor passed away after suffering a stroke on March 4, 2019 at age 52, and Once Upon a Time was his final movie appearance. Haig, meanwhile, has starred in countless horror films and received a late career boost due to his role as Captain Spaulding in Rob Zombie's House of 1000 Corpses, The Devil's Rejects, and 3 From Hell. He died age 80 last September.
Disney Channel actor Cameron Boyce, who died at age 20 last year, was also not mentioned. The lack of inclusion for these three, in particular, caused a backlash against the Academy on Twitter. See what fans had to same about the exclusions from the segment below.
