Lana Rhoades to Offer Sex Workers Better Working Conditions As Co-Owner of 'Anti-OnlyFans'

Adult film actor Lana Rhoades has been recruited to join Hidden, an OnlyFans alternative that promises a fairer share of profits for sex workers and better working conditions.

As reported by Wired, TikTok and OnlyFans content creator Stella Barey started to build her own platform, Hidden, earlier this year, after the demands of the adult content industry got too much for her.

She said she spent "five-and-a-half years … posting on multiple different platforms every single day" to be as successful as she is, pulling in hundreds of thousands a month from OnlyFans alone. She also believed that her peers in the industry deserved to reach that level of success with better working conditions.

In April this year, she launched Hidden, which bills itself as the "anti-OnlyFans." It’s the first adult platform operated by and owned by sex workers. It works similarly to TikTok, but for adult content.

On Thursday (December 4), the company will host its 'Goon-A-Thon' event, where it will be revealed that Lana Rhaodes is joining Hidden as its co-owner and chief creative operator. While she doesn’t actively star in pornography anymore, she felt compelled to help Barey with her platform, which she said will treat creators more like "collaborators."

"There’s a huge lack of transparency. Creators are often left guessing about shadowbans, payout issues, or why their content suddenly stops performing," Rhoades said. "And because most platforms are built by people outside the industry, the policies and product decisions often feel disconnected from what creators actually need in practice. Most of the corporate alternatives in this space were created by people who have never posted a single piece of content. They don’t understand the risks, the pressure, the customer dynamics, or the creative side."

The announcement comes not long after OnlyFans CEO Keily Blair announced that OF will begin running background checks on anyone signing up to be a creator.

Hidden currently boasts 115,000 users, most of which are men, and over 2,200 creators, most of whom are women. Rhoades said she has big plans for the new platform, including feature films, educational content, live events and a clothing line.

"A lot of people have told me there will never be anything except OnlyFans," added Barey. "With all of these changes [around age-verification laws] and the rise of conservatism, it's been really nice knowing that I’ve already built this platform that we’re not all going to just get kicked off of tomorrow."
