Home Alone and its New York City-set sequel have been removed from Disney+, and subscribers aren't happy about it. Both films were among a wave of titles removed from the service come Jan. 1, seemingly without much warning. Also among the casualties were The Sandlot, Doctor DolittleStrange Magic, and Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, the fourth film in a five-movie saga otherwise fully available to stream.

The Chris Columbus-directed Home Alone films were productions of 20th Century Fox, which means Disney now owns the rights to both. There should be no issues as far licensing goes, which makes the sudden disappearance all the more confusing. Even worse, the questionable Home Alone 3, the first in the series to not star Macaulay Culkin, is still available for streaming.

Disney+ users on Twitter were none too happy about the news.

It should be noted that earlier this year, Disney announced plans to reboot Home Alone for Disney+. Unsurprisingly, fans of the films weren't happy about that news, either. There haven't been any updates since, but the absence of the first two classics could have something to do with the remake.
