Bradley Cooper's directorial debut A Star Is Born has scored a massive eight nominations at the 2019 Oscars, but the 44-year-old actor-director didn't quite land the nom he was hoping for. Speaking with Oprah Winfrey for her show Oprah's SuperSoul Conversations from Times Square, Cooper admitted he was initially feeling quite "embarrassed" about the snub.

"I was not surprised. I’m never surprised about not getting anything," he told Oprah. "I was in New York City at a coffee shop and I looked down at my phone, and Nicole [his publicist] had texted and they said congratulations on these other things but they didn't tell me the bad news. ... The first thing I felt was embarrassment, actually. Well think about it, I felt embarrassed that I didn't do my part."

However, there's still a big chance he could win at the Oscars this year. Cooper himself scored three nods, gaining a nomination for Best Actor, Best Picture, and Best Adapted Screenplay. The movie was also nominated for Best Cinematography and Best Sound Mixing, while Sam Elliott scored a nod for Best Supporting Actor and Lady Gaga for Best Actress.

Cooper won't have to wait too much longer to find out how the movie fared, with the 91st Academy Awards set to take place on Sunday, Feb. 24. During the show, Cooper is expected to perform his hit duet with Gaga, "Shallow." The actor admitted, however, that he's "terrified" about the prospect.
