Stephen Colbert is making the most of his final stretch on late night TV.
During Tuesday night’s episode of The Late Show, the longtime host shared on-air kisses with both Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Pedro Pascal, continuing a surprisingly chaotic streak that started earlier this week with Jimmy Fallon.
The moment came after Colbert welcomed Louis-Dreyfus to the Ed Sullivan Theater and revealed that she had asked producers to replay footage from Monday’s episode, where Colbert discussed celebrities he’s kissed on-air over the years. That list included names like Helen Mirren, Sally Field, Andrew Garfield, and Jeff Daniels.
After the clip rolled, Louis-Dreyfus jokingly leaned in and told Colbert, “No one’s watching, it’s just between us,” before the pair shared a quick kiss as the audience erupted in cheers. The Veep star later joked that the show should “reshoot” the entire segment.
Things only escalated when Pedro Pascal appeared later in the episode. Shortly after sitting down, the actor silently pointed to his lips and raised his eyebrows at Colbert, leading to another kiss between the two.
“I got jealous,” Pascal joked afterward.
Colbert played along, responding, “No need, any time. These lips will soon be free.”
The recent run of kiss jokes started Monday night when Colbert hosted fellow late-night personalities Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel, Seth Meyers, and John Oliver. During the conversation, the hosts discussed which guests they had kissed on camera before Fallon and Colbert eventually locked lips themselves.
Earlier this week, Colbert revealed he personally reached out to Byron Allen after CBS announced that Comics Unleashed would take over The Late Show’s 11:35 p.m. time slot beginning May 22, saying he wanted to warmly welcome Allen as his successor.
The viral moments arrive as The Late Show nears its end. Colbert previously announced the series will conclude following CBS’ decision to cancel the show, with its final episode scheduled to air on May 21.
