The hacktavist group known as Anonymous has declared its own war with ISIS. They claim to have taken down more than 5,000 Twitter accounts related to ISIS and have promised to expose other members of the terrorist group. A list of alleged ISIS attacks leaked on Saturday night were reportedly planned for Sunday, among them WWE's Survivor Series in Atlanta. The leak came from OpParisIntel, a group claiming to work within Anonymous. However Anonymous is now distancing themselves from the reports released yesterday.
Anonymous released several statements over Twitter saying, "We did not spread any rumors about possible future ISIS attacks, and frankly, we do not know where the rumors come from."
They later shared a link to the original post about the leaked ISIS attacks that came from OpParisIntel, but the link provided in the tweet has been removed (in fact, all but two of their tweets have been removed). The page's bio now reads:
The rumored ISIS targeted attacks listed the WWE Survivor's Series event being held in Atlanta, Ga., Feast of Christ the King Celebrations (Rome), Al-Jihad, 1 Day Juz (Indonesia), Five Finger Death Punch (Milan, Italy), and University Patroal Day (Holy Spirit University of Kaslik, Lebanon).
The WWE and Philip Arena released a joint statement on Saturday night saying, "Federal, state and local law enforemcent authorities have confirmed there is no specific or credible information involving a threat."
