Chelsea Handler and Kevin Hart turned what was meant to be a promotional sit-down into a nonstop roast session.
In an interview with ET tied to Hart's Netflix competition series, Funny AF With Kevin Hart, the two comedians and longtime friends quickly abandoned any formal tone and leaned into playful insults, awkward teasing, and rapid-fire comedic jabs that didn’t let up.
The exchange opened with Handler immediately setting the tone by joking about Hart's comfort level in the room.
"Would you mind closing your legs? ‘Cuz it stinks in here. Or sit criss-cross applesauce, maybe?" she asked.
Hart refused, replying, "I don't want to do that." He then leaned into the humor himself referring to his gray sweatpants, saying, "I wore these for you.. These are my male lingerie.”
From there, Handler mocked Hart's appearance and behavior, even poking fun at his grooming.
"You have something in your beard I don't know if it's a tick, or dandruff," she quipped.
One of the running jokes came further into the interview as Handler reflected on Hart's habit of FaceTiming her during the COVID-19 pandemic, especially when his wife, Eniko, would also be on the calls.
She described it as an unexpected group dynamic that she never signed up for, saying, “It was, like, clearly you two were dealing with your own boredom and needed a third party to get involved and I'm like, 'I'm not the one, okay?’”
Handler added, "The first couple times I answered, and then I was like, ‘These two are up to something.’ I don't know if you guys wanted a threesome or you just needed counseling. I was like, ‘I am not interested.’”
Despite the constant roasting, the conversation shifted toward Hart's upcoming live Netflix special, Netflix Is A Joke Presents: The Roast Of Kevin Hart, set for May 10, 2026 at The Kia Forum in Los Angeles.
“I am more than looking forward to it," Hart admitted. "I'm excited to turn this into a complete massacre for anybody that decided to touch that stage and say anything negative on my behalf."
