Angus Cloud's mother is speaking out about the emotional Euphoria finale that paid tribute to her late son.
In a statement shared with TMZ, Lisa Cloud shared, “The massive public emotional outpouring on social media honoring my beloved son's beautiful soul says everything."
The outlet says Lisa watched the final season of the HBO series and felt the ending, which portrayed Rue's dreamlike hallucination as she died, offered a moving depiction of crossing to the other side.
The finale also included previously unseen archival footage of Angus Cloud from season one, showing his character Fezco.
Lisa also said she believed series creator Sam Levinson did a wonderful job honoring her son and that she fully trusted him and his wife, Ashley Lent Levinson. Lisa said she learned about the inclusion of unreleased footage at the same time as viewers, though she had suspected it might happen.
In a recent Popcast interview, which was published after the finale aired, Levinson confirmed the series has officially ended.
“In terms of the story that we set out to tell, which is a story about addiction and its consequences, this feels like the end to me," Levinson told co-hosts Jon Caramanica and Joe Coscarelli.
“It was such a fulfilling journey in terms of this cast, the crew, what we were able to accomplish. I mean, there are thousands of things that have to go right in order to make something like this,” he added. “I'm just immensely proud of the work we did, the story we told. It's a tragic one in the end, but it's also the truth. If you are experimenting or taking drugs today, it's very possible it'll kill you. I think it was a way of honoring Angus and saying a prayer for the future."
When asked if the story was finished, he replied, "Yeah, I mean, what else is there to say?"
An HBO representative also confirmed to Complex that Euphoria ended with the release of "In God We Trust."
Angus Cloud, a fan-favorite on the series, died of an accidental overdose in July 2023.
