It’s almost closing time at the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center, and The Pitt’s beloved crew is going out with a bang. There are just three episodes left until the season finale — which streams Thursday, April 16 on HBO Max. To celebrate the finale, fans can watch it at select Alamo Drafthouse theaters shortly before its proper premiere.
On April 13, Alamo Drafthouse theaters in select cities will offer viewers the opportunity to watch The Pitt season 2 finale days before it’s available on streaming, according to a report from Variety.
Among participating Alamo Drafthouse locations are New York City’s Brooklyn location; the Seaport location in Boston; Raleigh, N.C.; Naples, Fla.; the Cedars location in Dallas; the Mueller location in Austin; the Westminster location in Denver; the Mountain View location in San Francisco, the Woodbury location in Twin Cities, Minn.; and the downtown location in Los Angeles.
The screenings are open to the public, however, they are offered as an appreciation event for healthcare workers. Admission is free, but guests can reserve seats on the Alamo Drafthouse website with the purchase of a $10 food and beverage voucher.
Each season of The Pitt follows Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavtich (Noah Wyle) and his medical crew over a 15-hour shift at in the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center. Each episode is an hour into the shift, creating a real-time sense of urgency and emotional weight.
Over the course of this past season, the crew has been faced with an abandoned baby, a death by alcoholism, a waterpark disaster, plus a network outage that posed challenges for the crew. In a recent episode, the team witnessed a heartbreaking encounter with ICE, during which, a nurse was arrested after coming to a patient’s defense.
The Pitt was renewed for a third season in January, shortly before the premiere of the second season.
