Terry Crews and his wife Rebecca King-Crews just passed a major milestone in their marriage.
On Tuesday, July 29, the couple celebrated their 36th anniversary. The Brooklyn Nine-Nine actor took to his Instagram page to share a carousel of photos. In the photo set, the couple are seen at various stages of their relationship — their wedding, partying in style, hanging out by the pool, and celebrating the holidays with their children — Naomi, 36, Azriél, 34, Tera, 26, Winnie, 22, and Isaiah, 20.
“36 years and just getting started!!” wrote Terry in the post’s caption.
While things seem to be going well after all these years, all marriages pose their challenges. In fact, Terry opened up about struggles in his and Rebecca’s marriage in a February interview for People, noting that they nearly split up two decades into their marriage. But ultimately, the two decided to push through difficulty and make things work.
"Me and my wife have been married 36 years and, at year 20 though, it was over. And we totally rebuilt our relationship," he said at the time. “And we decided we were going to be stronger together. It was a decision that we decided to make. A lot of times, people feel like love is about feelings — it's work. It's work. It's really work. You have to get better at it, it's a skill. There's a lot of things I had to relearn."
As people and feelings evolve over time, both Terry and Rebecca emphasize the importance of growing together. Last year, on their 35th anniversary, they both spoke to People about how they managed to make their marriage last so long.
"My advice is that the key principle in any relationship is forgiveness," Rebecca said at the time. "You cannot hold grudges and stay together."
