Coyote vs. Acme will finally see the light of day.

On Saturday (July 26) at San Diego Comic Con, actor Will Forte revealed that the once-shelved film will arrive to theaters on August 26, 2026, Variety reports.

Originally set to release in 2023, Coyote vs. Acme was removed from Warner Bros. Pictures’ film schedule indefinitely back in 2022. In November 2023, Warner Bros. announced that the film was complete, but would not be released, as the company opted to claim a tax loss of about $30 million. Similarly, the release of Batgirl and Scoob! Holiday Haunt were also cancelled that year. There is currently no set release date for the for the other shelved films.

Earlier this year, Ketchup Entertainment purchased the rights to the film in a $50 million deal, per Deadline. This came after Ketchup distributed The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie worldwide back in March.

Coyote Vs. Acme is directed by Dave Green, and features a star-studded cast composed of Forte, John Cena, Lana Condor, P.J. Byrne, Tone Bell, Martha Kelly, and Eric Bauza. The film tells the story of Looney Tunes character Wile E. Coyote taking legal action against the Acme company, claiming their faulty products have deterred his pursuit of the Road Runner.

While the journey of getting the film to the screen has been lengthy and rocky, Forte seemed to be in good spirits at SDCC. During a panel moderated by Paul Scheer, Forte was cracking jokes about the ordeal, likening Warner Bros. Pictures to the fictional Acme.

“I heard Warner Bros wouldn’t release the film — I’ve never heard of Warner Bros!” said Forte. “This is really an Acme decision and I’m saying that for legal purposes.”

Joining in on the joke, Scheer said “Ketchup is single-handedly saving the Looney Tunes. Mr. Ketchup, we salute you.”

And that’s all, folks!
