Interview with the Vampire is on the way with a new season, a new story, and a new name.

On Saturday (July 26), Interview with the Vampire’s cast and crew appeared at San Diego Comic-Con, where they announced the show’s new name — The Vampire Lestat. This name change comes as the show’s third season is expected to follow the second book in author Anne Rice’s beloved Vampire Chronicles series.

The show and book tell the story of Louis de Pointe du Lac (Jacob Anderson), Lestat de Lioncourt (Sam Reid) and Claudia’s (Delainey Hayles) love story, which transcends time through immortality. Over the course of the series, the story is told to journalist Daniel Molloy (Eric Bogosian). In the upcoming third season, viewers will see the Vampire Lestat as he starts a band and goes on tour.

During Saturday’s panel, five new cast members were revealed — Jennifer Ehle (Lioness) as Gabriella, Ella Ballentine (Black Conflux) as Baby Jenks, Jeanine Serralles (Apples Never Fall) as Christine Claire, Christopher Heyerdahl (Under the Banner of Heaven) as Marius and Damien Atkins (Slings & Arrows) as Magnus.

Fans were also treated to three minutes of footage from The Vampire Lestat, as well as preview of the show’s music. Reid began learning the music long before he even saw the scripts for the third season.

“It was deeply satisfying actually, because the songs are incredible pieces alone, but there’s also a show that we shoot, and it’s got a story,” said Reid during the SDCC panel. “There are scenes that exist within the performances, within the actual songs themselves. Layering [showrunner/executive producer] Rolin [Jones’] work on top of [composer Daniel Hart’s] work is quite challenging. They’re very different, but they both have a singular vision.”

The Vampire Lestat is set to premiere on AMC in 2026.
