Netflix has canceled their Marvel show Luke Cage, Deadline reports.

"Unfortunately, Marvel’s Luke Cage will not return for a third season,” Marvel and Netflix said, per Deadline. "Everyone at Marvel Television and Netflix is grateful to the dedicated showrunner, writers, cast and crew who brought Harlem’s Hero to life for the past two seasons, and to all the fans who have supported the series."

Varietyreports a source as saying talks for a third season of Luke Cage occurred but eventually fell through. The reasoning? According to Deadline it was due to "creative differences." The series starred Mike Colter in the titular role, Mahershala Ali as Cornell "Cottonmouth" Stokes, Simone Missick as Misty Knight, Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple, Alfre Woodard as Mariah Dillard, Theo Rossi as Hernan "Shades" Alvarez, Gabrielle Dennis as Tilda Johnson, and Mustafa Shakir as John "Bushmaster" McIver.

In a tweet, Luke Cage showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker thanked Netflix, Marvel, the cast and crew, and score composers The Midnight Hour (A Tribe Called Quest's Ali Shaheed Muhammad and Adrian Younge) after word of the cancelation broke.

Finn Jones, who plays the titular hero on Iron Fist, posted a picture of his character and Luke Cage mid-collision on his Instagram. Iron Fist was also canceled after two seasons last week.

On the fate of The DefendersMarvel Television Executive Vice President Jeph Loeb told Entertainment Weekly: [...] all we’ve ever said is that there are no plans right now [to do more]. It doesn’t mean that it’s off the table. And it doesn’t mean that it even has to be with the original characters that were in the first Defenders."

Speaking of Marvel/Netflix shows, Daredevil's third season just became available on the streaming service today.
