ASAP Rocky has released the cover art for his upcoming album, Don’t Be Dumb, and of course, his partner Rihanna made it known that she’s proud of her man.
The rapper shared a picture of the official cover art for the LP and seemingly suggests that director Tim Burton designed the cover art — but his wording is unclear.
That's when RiRi chimed in under the post in support of her man, writing: "So f*cking proud!!!! LETS GOOOO BABY."
Out of nowhere, the Harlem rapper shared the cover art of his forthcoming album, Don't Be Dumb, on Tuesday.
“SORRY 4 THE WAIT DON’T BE DUMB FINALLY HERE! THANKS TIM BURTON FOR HELPING ME MAKE THIS MOVIE” he wrote.
Last year, when speaking to Billboard about Don’t Be Dumb, Rocky revealed that he tried to collaborate with Burton on the artwork for the LP, but their schedules seemingly didn’t align at the time to make it happen.
“I sat and I played the album for Tim Burton, and he was fucking with it heavy,” Rocky said. “He was rocking his head and he’s like, ‘Wow! I didn’t know you made that kind of music!'”
Rocky’s latest tease for Don’t Be Dumb comes after several delays for the project which, at one point, caused preorder for it to be canceled and refunded. Last year, when we spoke to him about the reasons for it being delayed, Rocky blamed it on a couple of things.
“There were different reasons why, mainly being leaks and clearance stuff,” he explained. “But it gave me more time to be creative and put some finishing touches.”
“I'm a perfectionist and I think sometimes that's my own worst enemy,” he continued. “I like to keep revising and editing, pushing things to the limit. I want to explore every option and every possibility. I want to assure that all of my fans will be fulfilled when they get this music.”
This November, Rocky joked that the album wouldn’t be coming out at all during a recent vlog from Maurice Kamara’s The People Gallery. “Don’t Be Dumb. Never dropping” Rocky joked. “They gonna kill us for that one.”
In October, Rocky told us about the personal importance of the album’s title as a motto. “I used to do a lot of dumb shit. Now, I try to move on some straight and narrow shit,” Rocky said. “So, the smartest thing I did this year was just learn from a lot of mistakes that I made in the past. I think we all should try to learn from mistakes. Some people don't evolve from it, but for me, I've been really trying to dissect all the mistakes I did and try my best to convert them into a positive. Sorry to sound cliché. Learning from my dumb mistakes was the smartest thing I did this year.”
Don’t Be Dumb is supposedly coming out on Jan. 16.
