ASAP Rocky Jokes Long-Awaited 'Don't Be Dumb' Album Is 'Never Dropping'

Last year, Rocky attributed the album’s delay to “different reasons,” including leaks and clearance issues.

ASAP Rocky has offered an update on his long-awaited new album Don’t Be Dumb, albeit jokingly.

As fans are aware, it's been more than seven years since Rocky's most recent full-length Testing, which debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 albums chart and featured the single “Praise the Lord (Da Shine)” with Skepta.

As seen in a recent vlog from Maurice Kamara’s The People Gallery, Rocky couldn’t help but tuck in a joke about the album’s delay when asked to detail what he has on the horizon.

Don’t Be Dumb,” Rocky, who this week took home the Fashion Icon honor at the 2025 CFDA Fashion Awards, said. “Never dropping.”

Rocky then broke out into laughter before tucking in a self-aware assessment of how his joke would likely be received by fans.

“They gon’ kill us for that one,” he added.

In an interview with Complex’s Mike DeStefano in October, Rocky elaborated on the personal importance of his new album title as a motto.

“I used to do a lot of dumb shit. Now, I try to move on some straight and narrow shit,” he told Complex at the time. “So, the smartest thing I did this year was just learn from a lot of mistakes that I made in the past. I think we all should try to learn from mistakes. Some people don't evolve from it, but for me, I've been really trying to dissect all the mistakes I did and try my best to convert them into a positive. Sorry to sound cliché. Learning from my dumb mistakes was the smartest thing I did this year.”

In a previous Complex interview, Rocky directly addressed speculation surrounding the album’s delay, attributing it to “different reasons,” leaks and clearance issues among them.

“I’m a perfectionist and I think sometimes that's my own worst enemy,” Rocky said in September of last year. “I like to keep revising and editing, pushing things to the limit. I want to explore every option and every possibility. I want to assure that all of my fans will be fulfilled when they get this music.”
