PinkPantheress filled her set at Coachella’s second weekend with a wide-range of celebrity guests — and a surprise birthday shoutout.
The British pop star followed up on an already big first weekend by making her set even more unpredictable. She brought out Zara Larsson, who she collaborated with on the track “Stateside.”
Though Larsson didn’t perform “Stateside” with her, the singer eventually hit the stage to perform “Midnight Sun” and tease that PinkPantheress could be featured on the deluxe edition of the album of the same name.
Larrson’s appearance was just the tip of the iceberg. Musicians like Janelle Monáe and Australian DJ Ninajirachi took to the stage, along with actors Tyriq Withers, Chase Infiniti, and others.
While going through a slew of fan-favorite tracks like “Romeo” and “Boy’s a liar Pt. 2,” PinkPantheress was in for a surprise herself when Withers came to her with an announcement.
“I really had something important to say… a birdie told me that it is your birthday,” he said to the crowd, before sharing a rose with her as dancers held up a “Happy Birthday” sign.
Pantheress’ epic performance was one of the highlights of Coachella’s weekend, along with Justin Bieber performing “One Less Lonely Girl” with a shocked Billie Eilish.
After practically crawling on stage, shocked that she was picked to be serenaded to, Eilish sat in front of Bieber, visibly overwhelmed, as he sang the song while embracing her. It was a full circle moment for Eilish, who grew up a Belieber, has collaborated with him in the past, and continues to praise him for his musical abilities.
The Strokes also had a massive moment during Coachella’s second weekend when they performed the track “Oblivious” with a video montage of footage about the United States government, culminating in clips condemning Iran and Gaza bombings.
