Offset says that he released Haunted By Fame just to get out of a record deal.

The rapper commented on the LP, which reportedly sold just under 8,000 units, in a post shared to Instagram. “Mixtape to get out my deal,” he wrote.

Haunted By Fame dropped as a surprise project on Halloween, via UMG Recordings. Its sudden release didn’t seemingly do it any favors since the LP, which features guest appearances from NBA Youngboy, Lil Dump, and NoCap, missed the Billboard 200 entirely.

On the track “No Sweat” from Haunted By Fame, Offset seemingly addressed Cardi B’s pregnancy and relationship with Stefon Diggs. Admittedly, Offset doesn’t get specific with names, but when you listen to what he’s saying in the following lyrics, it becomes pretty clear who he’s talking about.

On the way to the money, no stoppin'

How the fuck you leave Jordan for Rodman?

You a fool if you think that I'm hurt

You ain't happy, I know how it work

How you married and still givin' birth?

Get some help, bitch, you goin' berserk

Late last month, before the release of Haunted By Fame, Offset opened up about the “lot of mistakes” he made in his marriage with Cardi.

“I was definitely not perfect,” he said during an appearance on the Baby, This is Keke Palmer podcast. “I made a lot of mistakes. I did a lot of wrong, and it’s always on the front screen, so it was hard to move on from it.”

When asked about what he would have done differently in the relationship, Offset mentioned one thing in particular. “I should have respected her way more,” he admitted. “I made bad decisions as a man, stepping out, and I gotta take that on the chin.”

In the same interview, Offset denied the rumor that he slept with Saweetie and that was what caused him and Quavo to fall out. “No, it was rumored, man,” he said. “I feel like it was something deeper than that for the split of me and bro. I think people were trying to tear down my situation and their situation,” Offset speculated. “We’re men, we don’t play those games.”
