Jack White’s wife, Olivia Jean, has filed for divorce, claiming that the rock star is guilty of inappropriate marital conduct.
According to legal documents obtained by Complex, Jean filed the petition on June 3. In the filing, she claims that she depends on his income for bills and needs him to not only support her, but also to put him on his life insurance policy.
“Wife would show that the parties have accumulated certain real estate, furniture and furnishings, intangible assets, and other marital property during the course of their marriage,” the complaint reads. “Wife would show that, should the parties be able to enter into an Agreement, the Court should make an equitable division and distribution of all marital assets and liabilities and award Wife her separate property.”
In her filing, Jean wrote that the rocker’s alleged behavior made “further cohabitation unsafe and improper.”
One of Jean’s final requests in the filing is that White pays “reasonable attorney’s fees, paralegal expenses, court reporter fees, expert witness fees, costs of discovery, and other expenses.”
The couple joined in holy matrimony in April 2022 when they got engaged and married onstage at one of his concerts at Detroit’s Masonic Temple. They’d just performed The White Stripes’ song “Hotel Yorba” before White dropped to one knee and a minister walked onstage.
In an interview with The New York Times afterward, Jean reflected on the proposal, saying, "It was the best experience of my life," Jean said. "You could plan a wedding for five years, and it wouldn't compare to that."
White’s marriage to Jean was his third. He was previously married to Meg White from 1996 to 2000 (and he’s kept her last name) and Karen Elson from 2005 to 2013.
