Demi Lovato has credited nostalgia for being the reason she's been able to reconnect with fellow Disney alumni Selena Gomez and Joe Jonas.
In a new interview with Billboard, Lovato spoke briefly about singing the Camp Rock song "This Is Me" with Joe Jonas at a show in Orlando, as well as how the love of throwback moments by fans is driving new Disney reboots and specials.
"I think the age that we’re at is really loving nostalgia right now," Lovato said. "For all the people who are in their 30s and have lived through the Disney era with me, Selena (Gomez), the Jonas Brothers, and Miley, they’re craving it, and it’s fun to go back and relive those moments."
Lovato also said the public's fascination with the Disney Channel's golden era has "definitely" helped her reconnect and rekindle former friendships. "Yeah, I think that’s why it’s all coming together again in this day and age."
Aside from Lovato’s comments about rekindling with Disney stars, the channel's golden-era has been a huge topic of conversation thanks to Raven-Symoné’s comments about who she considered to be on the Mt. Rushmore of Disney stars.
In a March interview with The Shade Room, Raven-Symoné listed off her picks. "I would say me, Hilary (Duff), Shia (LaBeouf), and the famous Jett Jackson (actor Lee Thompson Young)."
She then explained why she chose Young, specifically. "He is no longer with us, but he was the first Black show on Disney. I believe he should be on Mt. Rushmore. He definitely deserves a spot."
When asked about whether Miley Cyrus should be included in her Mt. Rushmore, Raven-Symoné quickly shut down the suggestion. "No, not Miley," she said. "I love you, Miley, but she came after."
Though she didn’t specifically mention either person, two other names that Raven-Symoné left off were Keke Palmer and Zendaya.
